Ven. Subhadra (1908-2001), The Ven. Subhadra Julius A. Goldwater, a descendant of a German Jewish clan became an ordained Buddhist priest in the 1930s in Japan and China. He went on to teach Buddhism in Los Angeles for almost 70 years.
