The wisdom of enlightenment is 
Inherent in every one of us.
It is because of the delusion 
Under which our mind works
That we fail to realize it ourselves, 
And that we have to seek 
The advice and the guidance of Enlightened ones.

Hui Neng (638-713), Huineng also commonly known as the Sixth Patriarch of Chan, is a central figure in the early history of Chinese Chan Buddhism. According to tradition he was an uneducated layman who suddenly attained awakening upon hearing the Diamond Sutra.
