To practice the virtue of forbearance, one must have strength, wisdom, and compassion. One must be willing to settle differences or disputes by means of reason and kindness. One must believe in tolerance and restraint as signs of goodness and bravery. Therefore, if one wants to succeed in life and bring about a more peaceful world, one must learn to control one’s emotions and not to be affected by a moment of anger.



Hsing Yun (1927 CE-), Hsing Yun is a Chinese Buddhist monk. He is the founder of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist order as well as the affiliated Buddha's Light International Association in Taiwan. Hsing Yun is considered to be one of the most prominent proponents of Humanistic Buddhism.
